The physiology of muscle action

Garrison-Morton, 624; Norman, 660.

First edition.

“A monumental work” (Garrison-Morton), illustrated with 101 text figures.

“In the Physiologie des mouvements Duchenne unfolded the action of muscles individually and in groups, emphasising their simultaneous action, balance of action with resulting motion, action produced by selected electric simulations in normal subjects, electric simulations in individuals who prevented various types of isolated or combined paralysis…This conception of multiple participation of muscles is apparently Duchenne’s great contribution to the physiology of muscle action” (Kaplan).

Some occasional foxing, a good copy.
