First edition. Copy with text and atlas bound in one single volume. Quérard (Superchéries, II, 1083) indicates that the author would not be Maury but Auguste Tillet (or more likely Thillaye with the name mentioned in the preface).
The publication of this fine edition, dedicated ‘to his lordship the Count of Bordesoulle’, was delayed by a year due to an ophthalmic disease, as Maury explains in the preface. His sight was restored by Doctor Demours, whom Maury thanks along with Doctor Auguste Thillaye in the preface.
His Traité complet de l’art du dentiste is divided into two main parts, the first of which gives a detailed description of the physiology of the mouth and the various pathologies that can affect it. The second part contains details of oral hygiene and therapeutics. Pages 465-488 contain a very detailed bibliography of authors who have written on the subject.
The beautiful plates show the anatomy of the mouth, pathologies of the jaws and teeth, and instruments.
An exceptional copy, in an armorial morocco binding by morocco by Thouvenin and with the plates in colour (according to Quérard the atlas exists in two issues: in black and in colour).
Plates 1 and 31 slightly stained, otherwise a very fine copy.
