Decoration attributed to Geoffroy Tory The Fairfax-Murray copy

First edition printed in round typeface. “Les exemplaires bien conservés sont rares et très recherchés” (Brunet).

This beautifully illustrated edition contains 50 vignettes (including title page), according to Fairfax Murray attributable to Geoffroy Tory : “There are 50 illustrations in text (including a few repeats) in the style of that on the title, a style which (in the case of the best examples) suggests that of Geoffroy Tory”.

Fine copy in a very attractive binding.

Provenance: H. Fabert (his signature on the half-title and his coded purchase – Fairfax-Murray (his library number 1055).
