With a map of the moon

Grand-Carteret, 77.

First edition for the year 1704.

Fine complete copy with frontispiece after Le Pautre, and 3 maps (celestial map, map of France, map of the moon). There are details for each day of the year for sunrise and sunset, as well as for the beginning and end of twilight. The work also contains tables for celestial motion, as well as details for finding longitudes and latitudes. All the calculations were made by Jacques Lieutaud (1660-1733), mathematician and astronomer, member of the Académie royale des Sciences. Lieutaud carried out the calculations between 1702 and 1730 before the work was taken over by Godin, the astronomer sent to Peru with de La Condamine.

A fine copy.
