“Lafitau, a French Jesuit priest, was a historian and missionary to the Iroquois of Canada. This work is primarily concerned with the Portuguese voyages and explorations in the East Indies, Japan, and Melanesia. Many important references to Magellan are included. The introduction is an appreciation of Portuguese historians” (Hill).

Complete with its large folding world map and 14 plates. The world map traces the voyages of Vasco de Gama, Cabral and Magellan.

A very good copy, from the library of Count Schönborn-Buchheim (book plates).
