Gay-Lemonnyer, I, 561.
Second edition (the first dates from 1599 with the same printer).
It contains the pastoral of the shepherd Corydon, who disguises himself as a woman in order to break into the vestals’ house; discovered, he is married in extremis by the shepherdess Ardénie, who saves his life.
The play was subsequently included in the Bocage d’amour published in 1609. Siméon-Guillaume de La Roque (1551-1615?) was a French Baroque poet who worked with Philippe Desportes and Malherbe. His poetry reflects the influence of Ronsard and Desportes.
A fine copy, well preserved.
