It is dedicated to Horace-Benedict Saussure (1740-1799), the eminent Swiss geologist, meteorologist, mountaineer and Alpine explorer. It contains Hamiton’s notes on the earth quakes that devastated the regions of Calabria and Sicily in February and March 1783. This edition also contains the translations of the notes taken by G. Sella.
