Boucher de La Richarderie, IV, 42.
First edition, very rare.
It was published as an independent work, but is also part of the account Histoire de Muley Arxid, roi de Tafilete, printed by Clouzier the same year. A diplomat and merchant from Marseille, Fréjus left in 1666, by order of the King, for the kingdom of Fez in order to found a vast commercial agency in Fez. There he established commercial relations with the Sharif of Taza, and was the first European to describe the Rif.
Pages 284-286 are in the first printing, with the names of the directors of the Compagnie d’Albouzeme written in full (see Guy Turbet-Delof, Critical Bibliography of the Maghreb in French Literature).
Slight watstain at the beginning and at the end, otherwise a good copy of this rare travel account.
