Very rare first edition of Bouillaud’s doctoral thesis, which marked the beginning of his career as a cardiologist. An intern in the department of Professor Bertin, whose work on coardiology he was to publish, Bouillaud (1796-1881) paid tribute to the “marvellous resources provided by auscultation for the diagnosis of thoracic affections”, thanks to Laënnec’s stethoscope.
