Second, enlarged edition (the first, published in 1772, comprised only one volume).

The work, based on Sage’s lectures at the Ecole des Mines, is divided into three parts: the last part, entirely devoted to the mineralogy of metals occupies the entire second volume.

“The substanitally enlarged second edition of this work on assaying and mineralogical chemistry. It is based on the courses given by Sage at the Paris Mint and the École Royale des Mines. Many experiments described in the first edition have been repeated and the results corrected” (Neville).

First 4 leaves of second volume restored touching the lower part with the imprint on the title page.
