First edition.

Les Soins faciles is a genuine pocket manual, part of which was taken from Recherches et observations sur toutes les parties de l’art du dentiste, published in 1757. In the preface, Bourdet explains that his aim was to create a portable manual that could be easily read and that would bring together in broad outline all the theories developed previously. Bourdet’s science and skill were much appreciated by the court, and it was he who succeeded Mouton as dentist to King Louis XV in 1760, ‘who ennobled him, and then that of King Louis XVI’ (see Michelle Ruel-Kellermann).

Divided into 10 chapters, it contains details on conservation, diseases, pain, care of the teeth, etc. The last chapter gives practical instructions for fathers and mothers.

A pleasant copy.

Signature ex-libris of Julien Lamare on the title.
