First edition of this oration delivered on 16 November 1669 in the presence of Monsieur, the King’s brother, and Madame, in the church of the nuns of Sainte-Marie de Chaillot. “The first and rarest of Bossuet’s six great funeral orations” (see Verlaque).

The title is decorated with a vignette bearing the royal coat of arms, a floral tail-piece is placed at the end. A fine copy.
