Aratus ou Aratos (vers 315-245 av. JC), Greek poet and astronomer poète et astronomer; born in Cilicie and acontemporary of Theocrite, lives at the Court of Antigone Gonatas, King of Macédonia.
This poem on astronomy gives the earliest description of the 48 constellations defined by the Greek scientists. Cicro, Germanicus and Avienus ahve all translated this work into Latin verses. It is commentated by Hipparcuse, Eratosthenus and Theon.
The Latin translation is printed facing the Greek original while the commentaries are grouped at the end of the book.
