Selling an antiquarian book or library: our buying service in Paris
Do you own one or more old books, a manuscript or a family library that you would like to sell?
For four generations, Librairie Clavreuil has been helping you to value and buy rare and antiquarian books, while respecting confidentiality, the historical value of the works and the expectations of each seller.
What types of antiquarian books do we buy?
We are looking for books from the 13th to the 19th century that are of bibliophilic, historical or aesthetic interest.
This may include:
- Autograph or manuscripts (literary, scientific, religious);
- Incunabula or 16th-century prints;
- First editions;
- Illustrated books (including engravings and watercolours);
- Outstanding bindings (morocco, vellum, decorated);
- Entire libraries, preserved in the family or inherited.
We give priority to authentic items in good condition, with particular attention paid to noteworthy provenance.

Each acquisition is preceded by a free in-depth valuation of the book or collection, carried out by us in our bookshop or remotely.
We guarantee :
- An honest and well-argued valuation, based on our knowledge of the market and bibliophilic criteria;
- A transparent process, with no obligation to sell;
- Complete confidentiality, whatever the context.

- By sending us a list or photos of books, by e-mail or via our contact form;
- Or, if necessary, by arranging an appointment at your home for large libraries or fragile books.
Each request is studied carefully, and you will receive a reply as soon as possible.
