Paul Thiébault (1769-1846) was an Empire general. During his lifetime, he wrote extensively about his military life and the way the country was run. His Memoirs of General Baron Thiébault, 1806-1813, published in 5 volumes by Plon between 1893 and 1895, are a valuable source for the history of the First Empire.
This collection is more intimate, and he dedicated it to his wife in a touching declaration of love.
This collection follows in the footsteps of works written by the baron in the 1810s, such as Du Chant, et particulièrement de la romance (1813), in which the author moves away from history and belligerence to focus on feelings.
A very fine, broadmargined copy, bearing the arms of Louis de Bourbon.
