First edition with the privilege on page 78 dated 25 November 166 and the “achevé d’imprimer” dated 20 November 1667.
A first issue copy, with the indication of “T. Corneille” on the title. “Sur certains, le T. est corrigé en P., les suivants portent bien P. C[orneille]” (Tchemerzine). We know of another edition printed by the Elzéviers, dated 1667.
This play, presented by Molière’s troupe, was crowned with great success and Picot indicates the number of 30 performances, “chiffre très honorable pour une tragédie”.
A fine copy, well preserved in its original binding.
