Thiébaud, 836; Souhart, 433; Schwerdt, I, 163. Not in Sabin.

First edition, particularly interesting for its chapter on falconry.

Other than exotic hunting parties, hunting in America is also mentioned (p. 315).

“Ouvrage très estimé et fort rare, qui n’a jamais été réimprimé” (Thiébaud).

“Harting says it gives good advice on the choice of hawks for the country in which they are to be flown. The most interesting part of the book would seem to be the table which appears after the preface and which gives a list of the various forms of hunting as practised in the different countries of Europe at this date” (Schwerdt).

Some marginal notes and manuscript bookplate by “Lavirotté chevalier de St Louis”.

Binding slightly worn and with old restorations.
