First edition, finely illustrated with an engraved and coloured frontispiece depicting the ear and eyes.

“Curtis, a noted aurist and founder of the Royal Dispensary for Diseases of the Ear, writes in the introduction that he had repeatedly observed that in cases of deafness accompanied by visual defects “the healthy action of the nerves of the ear has extended its influence to the eye” (Becker).

Fine copy, preserved in a luxurious binding prepared for a member of the British Royal household.
